Dispatch from the Knarr
There’s a quiet and powerful moment before any voyage begins. The stillness before the wind catches the sail. It’s when you check your bearings, glance at the horizon, and hold the compass in your hand. You know where north is, but you pause, asking: Is this the direction I truly want to go?
In life and work, that compass is our core values, which are the things that make us feel steady when the waters get rough. Yet, it’s easy to lose sight of them. The world hands us maps full of routes others have charted: expectations, promotions, goals that sound right but don’t quite feel right.
I often meet clients in this space, successful, capable people who have been sailing hard but realize they’re not sure where they’re headed anymore.
They’ve done everything “right,” yet something feels off course.
In our coaching conversations, we pause. We hold the compass again. We ask,
What truly matters to you now? What does success mean to you… not to anyone else?
Often the answer surprises them.
Sometimes it brings a deep exhale that seems like a sense of returning home. Sometimes the weight visibly lifts off their shoulders.
From that clarity, the map begins to make sense again. Decisions become simpler, and momentum builds naturally. Because when your compass is set to your true north, every action, even the smallest one, moves you in alignment.
Before your next step, I invite you to pause and reflect:
What values guide your choices today?
How would adjusting your course help you match your core values?
When you travel with a steady compass, every horizon holds possibility.
